Newsletter: useKit preserves your knowledge

After a summer of hard work and many releases, we would like to introduce some new concepts and features to you.

We are proud of our redesigned and optimized platform. Anything you capture, store or upload is on your personal activity stream and can be found by “full text” search, date or just looking through. We encourage you to assign “Contexts” to categorize and find things even easier. Working in a group becomes extremely simple: just share your Context.

useKit is evolving to help retain and share your knowledge

It is only one way to profit from useKit, but pretty convincing to us. Let me tell you how.

Knowledge Management is about storing, retrieving, and developing information over time. We believe that the bottleneck is often the deposition of information, as it is time consuming and the benefits are not immediately visible. We thought: We have a platform that makes the deposition of information from various sources simple.

Use it as knowledge base? You can “drop in” multiple files, url’s, text notes, etc.; Or use the useKit toolbar to capture, bookmark or annotate websites. Everything goes to the useKit platform. And, if you want, useKit also connects to your existing services, such as Evernote, Facebook, Twitter or Delicious and let you keep track of all your activities.

This is too much?  ==> select what you need.

useKit_platform.pngKeep in mind, we are in beta and a lot of work is still ahead of us. But it is already very useful and we are continuously listening to the needs of our users. Please send criticism or suggestions and we will get in touch with you.

Safari Plug-in released

Most of the user feedback were dedicated to the wish for another plug-in  (Firefox and Chrome already exist). After Apple recently released version 5.0 of Safari including extensions, we immediately started to develop the useKit extension for Safari. And thanks to our hard working team, we were within the firsts to release a Safari 5.0 extension. I also wrote about it on startwerk.ch.

With this extension it is possible to keep the useKit bar always active. This allows direct access to Missions, Content and annotations on websites are directly visible. For us extensions, and plugins make useKit even more powerful.

The Safari extension and plug-ins for Firefox and Chrome are available on useKit.com.

Accounting for startups

Running a company is not only about great products, it also includes other aspects. Taking care of financial resources is for sure not the least important tasks although if done well not recognized by many people. Eric Fischer who is taking care of all financial aspects at useKit talks about accounting software that suits the needs of a startup company on the swiss startup blog startwerk.com.
