How to store and modify your items on useKit

Please take a few minutes to learn how useKit works – and you will soon benefit by having your data neatly stored and organized on one platform.

Add items to useKit

In a first step, you add anything you like to the useKit platform. There are three easy ways to do that:

1. Paste a URL

Copy and paste any URL in the input field at the top of the useKit home page:

1. Paste a URL

useKit automatically recognizes what kind of URL you paste. For example:
→ If you paste the URL of a YouTube video, that video is stored
→ If you paste a URL of an image, the stored item does not simply show the URL, but the image itself

The same goes for every URL that contains a pdf, movie, audio file, map, doodle calendar, and more.

2. Add text
Click the “Type a text” button and write whatever you want to store for later retrievals.

useKit allows you to highlight or underline certain words or sentences and structure your text by inserting titles or subtitles. You can edit your texts at any time.

3. Upload a file
You can upload a file by clicking “Upload a file” at the top of the useKit home page.

Click ““ to upload files. Click ““ to see your previously uploaded files.

Modify your collected items

Now that we have established the first step – adding items to useKit – let’s move on to the second step: structuring and modifying your items as you see fit. We encourage you to assign a title, description, and Context to every item. This allows you to manage them as efficiently as possible and share them with others.

Comment on your items

By adding comments to your items or those of your friends and colleagues, you can utilize a reminding component for later visits, give your fellow Context users further information, or ask them a question.
The next useKit newsletter will explain how you can make use of Contexts and collect data in the web with the useKit toolbar. We are always happy to assist you in any difficulty you might experience. Please let us know your questions or suggestions and we will get back to you.

Best,
Your useKit team
